Presentation Abstract:
This discusses some of the differences between business application development and game development. Game states and finite state machines in general will be discussed. There will also be different 2D and 3D demos and games shown. Demos include: Displaying a image, Scaling and Rotating, Cel Animation/Explosions, Simple 2D platformer, HLSL Pixel Shader, Platformer Starter Kit, Loading a 3D object and Tunnel Vision (a 3D space shooter game)
Chad Carter has 15 years of experience in professional software development. He recently started his own company, GlobalCove Technologies, to provide software consulting services for medium to large size companies.
GlobalCove Technologies specializes in customizing ERP systems, identity services, serious games, general system integrations and custom software development for Windows, Xbox 360, Web and the phone platforms.
Chad has created several 3D projects including a train simulation for Norfolk Southern that teach children to obey railroad crossing signals.
Chad has authored two books on XNA Game Studio:
Microsoft XNA Unleashed: Graphics and Game Programming for the Xbox 360 and Windows
Microsoft XNA Game Studio 3.0 Unleashed
He also holds sessions about XNA at conferences, CodeCamps, User Groups (including the one he regularly attends), in high schools and even in virtual worlds like SecondLife and OpenSim.
When Chad is not in front of a computer working with the latest technology you will find him spending time with his lovely wife and two precious daughters.
